1. Emergency First Aid & CPR Level C Training

The ministry requires that all security guards be certified for Emergency First Aid & Level C training. We offer this training here for your convenience. 

2. Ontario Security Guard Training

The ministry requires that all security guards complete 40 hours of basic security guard training. We offer this training for your convenience as well.

3. Training Completion Number (TCN)

After completing your Security Guard Training through Flex Point Academy we'll apply for your Training Completion Number which you will need to prove that you have completed your training and to register for the official security guard exam.

Get Your Licence

After you receive the results of your exam and pass you'll be able to apply for your security guard licence. To apply for your licence you must:
  1. Complete a criminal background check 
  2. Submit your licensing application
  3. Pay the licensing fee


After that you will receive your security guard licence in the mail. With this you can begin to apply for work as a security guard. Your license and Emergency First Aid & CPR level C certification are valid for 3 years after you receive them. Our instructors are more than happy to guide you through the application process for your new security license.

Find a Job as a Security Guard

Now that you're officially a licensed security guard you can start looking for work as you begin your new career. Flex Point Academy is the training division of a large security company called Flex Point Security through which we offer career opportunities to our students. After receiving your licence please check out our available security guard positions below.

1. Register For The Exam

After you receive your Training Completion Number (TCN) you can register to take the official security guard exam.

2. Study For the Exam

We provide valuable study resources to you free with your course including test writing tips and a full practice exam. Make use of these tools for the best chance of passing the official exam.

3. Write the Exam

You can write the test online or in person. You will have 75 minutes to complete 60 multiple-choice questions. We provide tips for taking the exam and a mock exam for you to test your new knowledge at the end of the course.

Tuition and Fees

You are not required to take the test again when renewing your licence. However testing became a requirement in 2010, if your licence expired before 2010 and you have not yet written a security guard and/or private investigator test yet, then you will be required to write one before you renew your licence.

How to Apply

If you have a licence from a different province you will have to apply for a new Ontario licence. You can use your old security guard licence as proof of ID. Read more about the requirement to become a security guard here.
