Start Your Training

1. British Columbia Security Guard Training

The ministry requires that security guards complete basic security guard training from a certified training provider such as Flex Point Academy. We offer this basic security guard training for your convenience below.

2. Emergency First Aid & CPR Training Level C

Before you can complete your security guard training you must first get your Emergency First Aid & CPR Level C certification. Once you have completed this certification we can apply for your Training Completion Number.

2. Training Completion Number (TCN)

After completing your Security Guard Training through Flex Point Academy we'll apply for your Training Completion Number which you will need to prove that you have completed your training when you apply for your security worker licence in the next step.

1. Submit your fingerprints

If you haven't submitted your fingerprints to a police station or fingerprinting agency before you'll need to do this before proceeding.

2. Complete a mental health evaluation

If you've never completed a mental health evaluation before you will need to do so before applying for your security worker licence.

3. Submit proof of training experience

This will be the Training Completion Number (TCN) that you receive from Flex Point Academy after you complete your Security Guard Training course.

4. Apply online or by mail

Apply for your security worker licence online through the official web portal or by mail. In order to apply you'll have to fill out some paperwork and pay the application fee. Our instructors are more than happy to guide you through the application process for your new security license.

Find a Job as a Security Guard

After you receive your licence you are now a licensed security guard and you can start looking for work to begin your new career. Be sure to be aware of when your licence expires so that you can renew it on time.

Tuition and Fees

You are not required to take the test again when renewing your licence. However testing became a requirement in 2010, if your licence expired before 2010 and you have not yet written a security guard and/or private investigator test yet, then you will be required to write one before you renew your licence.

How to Apply

If you have a licence from a different province you will have to apply for a new Ontario licence. You can use your old security guard licence as proof of ID. Read more about the requirement to become a security guard here.
