How to Become a Security Guard in BC
Start Your Training
1. British Columbia Security Guard Training
The ministry requires that security guards complete basic security guard training from a certified training provider such as Flex Point Academy. We offer this basic security guard training for your convenience below.
2. Emergency First Aid & CPR Training Level C
2. Training Completion Number (TCN)
1. Submit your fingerprints
2. Complete a mental health evaluation
3. Submit proof of training experience
4. Apply online or by mail
Find a Job as a Security Guard
After you receive your licence you are now a licensed security guard and you can start looking for work to begin your new career. Be sure to be aware of when your licence expires so that you can renew it on time.

Tuition and Fees
You are not required to take the test again when renewing your licence. However testing became a requirement in 2010, if your licence expired before 2010 and you have not yet written a security guard and/or private investigator test yet, then you will be required to write one before you renew your licence.
How to Apply
If you have a licence from a different province you will have to apply for a new Ontario licence. You can use your old security guard licence as proof of ID. Read more about the requirement to become a security guard here.
